Types of Bituminous Paints:
Type
Description
1. Solvent-based bitumen paint
Bitumen dissolved in solvents like mineral turpentine; quick-drying
2. Water-based bitumen emulsion
Bitumen dispersed in water with emulsifiers; eco-friendly and low VOC
3. Modified bitumen paint
Blended with polymers (e.g., styrene-butadiene) or aluminium for enhanced flexibility or reflectivity
4. Aluminium bituminous paint
Contains aluminium flakes; provides UV protection and aesthetic finish
5. Rubberized bitumen coating
Offers high elasticity, crack-bridging ability; used in waterproofing and roofing
